Seattle, where friends meet
I love Seattle. The first time I came here, it was June of 2008. It was for the ASHP Summer meeting, and I came alone with crutches and heels. I had broken my pelvis about 4 weeks prior, if that. Seattle reminded me immediately of San Francisco, where I lived for quite a few years. It’s also nice to know I can get my coffee in the morning without going too far. I met what would be become a good friend at that meeting, and here I am back in Seattle for another conference. I made sure to stay at the Sheraton, where most of the action is at. My friend takes me out at every conference we are both at, which is about 2 per year. Tonight, he is taking me out for dinner and maybe some live music. Oh, the perks of knowing a local!
So, got in last night to attend the APhA Annual Meeting, and I have already run into several people I didn’t expect to see. The first person I saw was the first person I met at my first APhA meeting. I sat next to him on the shuttle to the conference center then, and we ended up hanging out quite a bit. That was probably in 2007. I ran by him this morning on my way to register. He didn’t see me…. he seemed to be on a mission. I hope to run into him again and see what he has been up to. Then, I ran into a guy from MUSC that rotated through our pharmacy in Hawaii over Christmas time. Odd. Then, I was standing in at the host’s desk at Daily Grill, and I noticed the other person there was a lady from Wahiawa Hospital on Oahu that I had met in the lobby at the ASHP Midyear meeting this last December in Anaheim. We had a nice lunch together, and I am sure we will run into each other again.
Now, time to rest before tonight. I think it’s going to be a fun night, and my legs hurt from the run this morning. The hills hurt!!!
